Transportation Advisory Committee Recommendations
Proposed Motion
1. That Council accept the recommendations of the Transportation Advisory Committee as information.
2. That Council direct Administration to:
* Review the speed limit on Cardiff Road between Range Road 250 (the railway tracks) and Highway 28;
* Review inspection practices and procedures as part of an assessment of how the County delivers on its weed inspection policy;
* Facilitate more public focused participatory engagements as it relates to road infrastructure and maintenance initiatives;
* Continue to embark on collaboration with neighbouring municipalities to address maintenance service levels on boundary roads, taking into account the financial impact and level of service to Sturgeon County ratepayers;
* Continue to trial and offer alternative dust suppression products to residents; and
* Continue to innovate and utilize technology to enhance service delivery.
3. That Council direct Administration to:
* Explore feasibility and options for introducing advance local road signage on major roadways such as highway connectors;
* Continue with the gravel roads shoulder compaction/stabilization pilot project and consider adopting the initiative as an ongoing annual practice within the gravel road maintenance program;
* Examine the benefits of instituting alternative maintenance strategies for CN Rail’s gravel road crossings; and
* Bring cost implications and options of these recommendations to Council for consideration as part of the 2020 budget process.
